The TNFLA's Spring 2018 Meeting was held in conjunction with Texas A&M's Forestry and Wildlife Field Day.
Date: 26 April 2018
Time: 0830AM - 1:30PM (Lunch was included with the Registration)
Where: I.D. Fairchild State Forest, 2028 Highway 84W (FM 747 & Highway 84)
Attendance: Roughly 100 interested people.

Meeting Agenda
​Site #1 is about understory management techniques (herbicide, mulching, prescription burning) to provide habitat for wild turkey, red-cockaded woodpecker, white-tailed deer, and other types of wildlife. Speakers are Annie Farrell, district biologist with National Wild Turkey Federation, and Donna Work, biologist with Texas A&M Forest Service.

Site #2 is about shortleaf pine restoration using natural and artificial regeneration techniques. Speakers are Dr. Eric Taylor, silviculturalistwith Texas A&M Forest Service, and Jeff Brister, soil conservationist with Natural Resource Conservation Service.

Site #3 is about wildlife habitat management practices that landowners can do on their own properties. Speakers are J.B. Wynn with Region 9 Quality Deer Management Association for LA, OK, and TX, and Reuben Gay, wildlife biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Site #4 is about native understory plant identification and pollinators. Speaker is Kim Benton, horticulture county extension agent with Texas A&M Agrilife.
